Apple's First Touchscreen MacBook Pro Sticks with M5 Chips

Apple is finally building a touchscreen laptop — but don't expect bleeding-edge silicon inside. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the company's first-ever touch-enabled MacBook Pros will run on the current M5 Pro and M5 Max chips rather than next-generation processors.

The machines come in 14-inch and 16-inch configurations, both featuring OLED displays with touch input. That's a significant departure for a company that resisted touchscreen Macs for over a decade.

Beyond the display overhaul, the laptops will sport an updated industrial design — a full chassis refresh alongside the new screen tech.

The decision to stick with existing M5 silicon rather than waiting for a newer chip generation suggests Apple is prioritizing getting touchscreen Macs to market on its current timeline rather than bundling every possible upgrade into one release.
