Apple Already Testing iPhone Air 2 for Spring 2027
Second-gen iPhone Air reportedly adds ultrawide camera and improved battery life to the slim form factor.
Apple isn't wasting time. The company is already testing a second-generation iPhone Air, targeting a spring 2027 launch, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
The upgraded model reportedly packs two rear cameras — adding an ultrawide-angle lens to the mix — along with better battery life. Both upgrades address the most obvious compromises Apple made to achieve the original Air's ultra-thin profile.
The move signals Apple's commitment to the Air line as a permanent fixture in the iPhone roster, not a one-off experiment. By bolstering the camera system and endurance, Apple is clearly trying to make the slim device more competitive against its own Pro lineup.
No word yet on other specs, pricing, or additional hardware changes. But a two-camera system and longer battery life should go a long way toward silencing critics of the first-gen model's trade-offs.
