Superhuman Snaps Up AI Detection Startup GPTZero

Superhuman, the productivity company, has acquired GPTZero — the AI detection startup that's been trying to tell humans and machines apart since 2023.

The numbers are notable. GPTZero boasts 19 million registered users and $30 million in annual recurring revenue. PitchBook pegs the startup's valuation at north of $88 million.

GPTZero was cofounded by Edward Tian and Alex Cui in 2023, riding the wave of concern over AI-generated content flooding the internet. The tool became a go-to for educators, publishers, and anyone suspicious about whether a human actually wrote something.

Now it's in Superhuman's hands. The deal lands as AI-generated content continues to proliferate across the web, making detection tools increasingly valuable real estate in the tech landscape.
