Spotify Now Serves Up 650+ Narrated Magazine Articles
Premium subscribers get access to a new library of long-form narrated articles; free users can buy them for $1.99 each.
Spotify is pushing deeper into the spoken-word game. The company just dropped a library of more than 650 narrated long-form magazine articles in English, tucked into its existing audiobook catalog.
Premium subscribers get the full library included with their plan. No extra charge, no hoops to jump through. Free-tier users aren't completely shut out — they can grab individual articles for $1.99 a pop.
The move signals Spotify's continued appetite for content beyond music and podcasts. Audiobooks were the first expansion. Now editorially rich, professionally narrated magazine pieces are joining the mix.
It's an interesting play in a market where long-form written journalism struggles for attention. Turning magazine features into audio content could reach audiences who prefer listening over reading — and it gives Spotify another reason to keep users inside its app.
