Apple Kills 256GB Mac Mini, Bumps Base Storage to 512GB

Apple quietly axed the 256GB storage tier for the Mac mini this week. The move applies globally, leaving 512GB as the new entry point.
That storage bump comes with a price bump. The Mac mini now starts at $799 in the US, up from the previous lower tier. No more bargain-bin configs for Apple's smallest desktop.
The change effectively repositions the Mac mini slightly upmarket. Buyers who were eyeing the cheapest possible entry into Apple's desktop lineup will now need to shell out more — though they'll get double the storage for it.
Apple made the adjustment without any formal announcement, simply updating its online store and retail configurations worldwide. The company offered no explanation for the change.
