YouTube Now Lets You Nuke Shorts From Your App Entirely

A new zero-minute time limit option effectively banishes Shorts from YouTube's mobile apps.

YouTube Now Lets You Nuke Shorts From Your App Entirely

YouTube just handed users the kill switch for Shorts. The platform now allows users on both iOS and Android to set their Shorts time limit to zero minutes — effectively scrubbing the short-form video feed from the app altogether.

Previously, the lowest time restriction users could set was 15 minutes per session. That meant even the most Shorts-averse users still had to tolerate some exposure to the TikTok-style feed. Now, setting it to zero means Shorts simply won't appear.

The change rolls out to all YouTube users, not just premium subscribers. It's a notable move from a platform that has aggressively pushed Shorts as a core feature. Giving users full opt-out power signals YouTube is at least willing to let people curate their own experience — even if that means ditching one of its flagship formats entirely.
