Claude Code Desktop Gets a Major Multitasking Overhaul
Anthropic revamps its Claude Code desktop app with multi-session management and a bunch of power-user features.
Anthropic just shipped a significant redesign of its Claude Code desktop application, and the focus is clear: do more stuff at once.
The overhauled app now features a sidebar for juggling multiple coding sessions simultaneously. No more tab-switching chaos. Developers also get a drag-and-drop layout system, letting them arrange their workspace however they see fit.
Two big additions round out the update: an integrated terminal and a built-in file editor. Both live directly inside the app, reducing the need to bounce between Claude Code and external tools.
The redesign signals Anthropic's push to make Claude Code a more complete development environment rather than just an AI coding assistant. It's a play for the developers who want their AI tooling and traditional dev tools living under one roof.
The updated desktop app is available now.
