Cognichip Raises $60M to Let AI Design Its Own Chips

Cognichip just pulled in $60M in Series A funding to build AI models purpose-built for chip design. The round was led by Seligman Ventures.

The raise also comes with a heavyweight board addition: Lip-Bu Tan, the former Cadence Design Systems CEO and Intel chair, is joining as a new board member and participated in the round.

The thesis is elegantly recursive. The most advanced silicon chips fueled the AI revolution. Now Cognichip wants AI to return the favor by accelerating how those chips get designed in the first place.

Chip design is notoriously complex, expensive, and time-consuming. Throwing AI at the problem could compress timelines and cut costs — exactly the kind of efficiency play that attracts serious capital.

A $60M Series A signals strong investor confidence that AI-driven EDA tools are more than a research experiment.
