DOJ Takes Down Four Botnets That Infected Over 3 Million Devices

The US Department of Justice just pulled the plug on four botnets that had wormed their way into more than three million devices. The operation targeted the Aisuru, Kimwolf, JackSkid, and Mossad botnets — a collection of networks that used clever techniques to infiltrate home networks at scale.

Two of the botnets — Aisuru and Kimwolf — were tied to a massive 31.4 Tbps DDoS attack that hit in December 2025. That's an enormous volume of malicious traffic.

The botnets had embedded themselves across consumer devices, building out infrastructure quietly before being weaponized. The DOJ's disruption effort marks a significant federal crackdown on the botnet ecosystem that continues to threaten internet infrastructure worldwide.

Details on arrests or indictments connected to the operation have not yet been disclosed.
