Americans Really Don't Like AI, NBC News Poll Reveals
Only 26% of registered voters view AI positively, making it one of the most disliked topics in the country.
AI is everywhere. Americans are not thrilled about it.
A new NBC News poll of 1,000 registered voters found that just 26% hold a positive view of artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, 46% view it negatively. That gives AI the third worst net negative score of all topics surveyed.
The gap is striking. Despite AI embedding itself into nearly every corner of daily life — from workplaces to consumer products — the public remains deeply skeptical. Adoption across professional settings continues to accelerate, but public sentiment isn't keeping pace.
A 20-point spread between negative and positive views is a brutal number for a technology that Silicon Valley keeps insisting will change everything for the better. The industry has a massive perception problem on its hands, and widespread deployment clearly isn't fixing it.
