Google's Nano Banana 2 Brings 4K Image Generation to Gemini
Google's upgraded image model can now generate images up to 4K resolution and becomes Gemini's default creative engine.
Google just dropped Nano Banana 2, the next generation of its image generation model — and it's getting a serious resolution upgrade.
The new model can crank out images ranging from 512px all the way up to 4K resolution. That's a significant leap for an AI image generator baked directly into a consumer-facing product.
Perhaps more importantly, Nano Banana 2 is set to become the default image generation model inside the Gemini app. That means millions of Gemini users will automatically get access to the upgraded capabilities without lifting a finger.
Google has been aggressively pushing its generative AI tools across its product ecosystem, and making Nano Banana 2 the default signals serious confidence in the model's output quality. The move puts additional pressure on competing image generators to keep pace with resolution and accessibility.
