Warner Bros. Joins Disney, Paramount in AI Fight Against ByteDance

Warner Bros. Discovery is piling onto ByteDance. The studio sent a legal letter demanding the TikTok parent company stop training its AI video generation tool, Seedance, on Warner Bros. characters.

WBD's legal counsel addressed the letter directly to ByteDance general counsel John Rogovin — who apparently has a prior connection to the studio. The move puts WBD alongside Disney and Paramount, both of which have already made similar infringement claims against ByteDance's generative AI tool.

Seedance, ByteDance's AI-powered video generator, has drawn fire from major Hollywood studios who say it was trained on their copyrighted content without permission. Three of Hollywood's biggest players are now lined up against one of tech's biggest companies.

ByteDance hasn't publicly responded to the growing coalition of studios demanding it stand down.
