Steam Deck OLED Keeps Selling Out Due to Component Shortages

Valve's Steam Deck OLED has a supply problem. The popular PC gaming handheld has been unavailable in the US for several days, and Valve isn't sugarcoating the situation.

The company updated the Steam Deck OLED website to acknowledge the stock issues, pointing to memory and storage component shortages as the culprit. Valve says the device may be "intermittently" out of stock going forward — corporate speak for "we can't keep these on shelves and we're not sure when that changes."

It's a frustrating spot for a device that's been one of the brightest spots in handheld PC gaming. Supply chain hiccups hitting memory and storage components are nothing new in the hardware world, but that's cold comfort if you're trying to actually buy one.

No timeline was given for when stock levels might stabilize.
