Ireland Opens Major Probe Into X Over Grok's Sexual Images

Ireland's Data Protection Commission has launched what it calls a "large-scale" inquiry into X over sexualized images generated by Grok, Elon Musk's AI chatbot.

The investigation centers on the creation and publication of "potentially harmful" sexual imagery produced by the AI system. It marks the latest — and most significant — regulatory move targeting Grok specifically.

The DPC, which serves as the lead EU privacy regulator for X due to the company's European headquarters being in Dublin, has been increasingly scrutinizing the platform's AI tools.

The probe signals that European regulators aren't just watching AI image generation from the sidelines. They're actively going after platforms that let their models produce problematic content at scale.

X has not yet publicly responded to the inquiry.
