Paramount Hits ByteDance With Cease-and-Desist Over AI Content
Paramount joins Disney in taking legal action against ByteDance over AI-generated content that allegedly rips off its intellectual property.
ByteDance is stacking up legal threats from Hollywood heavyweights. Paramount has fired off a cease-and-desist letter to the Chinese internet giant, accusing its AI tools of generating content that infringes on Paramount's intellectual property.
The tools in question: Seedance, ByteDance's AI video generator, and Seedream, its image generation system. Paramount alleges both are churning out material that crosses the line into IP theft.
Disney already made the same move, sending its own legal demand to ByteDance over similar concerns. That makes two of Hollywood's biggest studios now pushing back against the company behind TikTok.
The escalating clash highlights the growing tension between entertainment giants and AI companies. Studios are drawing hard lines around their content as generative AI tools become increasingly capable of producing media that looks suspiciously familiar.
