Apple Rebuilt Maps for Tesla's Long-Awaited CarPlay Support
Apple reworked its Maps app in iOS 26 to accommodate Tesla's first-ever CarPlay integration.
Tesla is finally bringing CarPlay to its vehicles — but it hasn't been a smooth ride. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple had to specifically tweak its Maps app to get things working on Tesla's systems.
The holdup? iOS 26's Maps needed changes before Tesla could properly integrate CarPlay into its cars. Apple apparently made those adjustments ahead of the EV maker's planned rollout, signaling both companies are serious about making this happen.
In separate Apple hardware news, the company's upcoming low-cost MacBook will sport an aluminum chassis available in playful colors. Think MacBook Air vibes at a lower price point.
