ByteDance Eyes $7B Sale of Mobile Legends Studio to Saudi Fund
TikTok parent ByteDance nears deal to offload Moonton to Saudi Arabia's Savvy Games for up to $7 billion.
ByteDance is reportedly deep in negotiations to sell game studio Moonton to Savvy Games, Saudi Arabia's gaming investment vehicle. The deal could fetch between $6 billion and $7 billion.
Shanghai Moonton Technology is best known for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, a massively popular mobile title with a huge following across Southeast Asia and beyond. The studio has been a significant piece of ByteDance's gaming ambitions — but apparently not significant enough to keep.
For Savvy Games, the acquisition would represent a major grab in the mobile gaming space, adding a proven live-service hit to its growing portfolio. Saudi Arabia has been aggressively pouring money into gaming as part of its broader economic diversification push.
The price tag signals just how valuable top-tier mobile gaming IP has become. Terms are still being finalized, and no deal is guaranteed yet.
