Netflix Drops Dedicated Kids Gaming App Across Six Countries

Netflix Playground targets children eight and under with a standalone games app now live in six markets.

Netflix just rolled out Netflix Playground, a standalone gaming app built specifically for kids aged eight and under. The app is available now in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, the Philippines, and New Zealand.

The move doubles down on Netflix's broader push into family-friendly gaming. Kid-oriented titles have become a central pillar of the streamer's games strategy, and Playground gives that effort its own dedicated home rather than burying it inside the main Netflix app.

It's a smart surface-area play. Separate app, separate audience, separate engagement metrics. Parents get a contained environment for their kids. Netflix gets another touchpoint in the household.

No word yet on when additional markets will get access. For now, six countries get to see whether Netflix can make gaming stick with the under-eight crowd — arguably the toughest critics in tech.
