Microsoft Forces Windows 11 25H2 Update — No Opt-Out Allowed

Microsoft is pushing Windows 11 25H2 to all 24H2 devices with no way to fully decline the upgrade.

Microsoft isn't asking nicely. The company is force-pushing Windows 11 version 25H2 to devices currently running 24H2, and there's no complete opt-out mechanism available to users.

The reason? Support for version 24H2 officially ends on October 13. Microsoft apparently doesn't want stragglers.

To manage the rollout, the company says it's deploying an "intelligent" machine learning-based system that determines when and how devices receive the update. So an ML model decides when your PC gets upgraded — not you.

This forced migration approach isn't new for Microsoft, but the explicit removal of any full opt-out option raises the stakes. Users who prefer to control their own update timelines are simply out of luck.

The message from Redmond is clear: 25H2 is coming to your machine whether you like it or not.
