China Hits Dozens of US Firms With Export Controls, Procurement Bans

China just escalated its trade war toolkit. Beijing announced new export controls targeting 10 American companies, including rare earth miner MP Materials and drone maker Teal Drones. On top of that, 46 US firms — defense tech company Anduril among them — are now barred from Chinese government procurement.

The dual-pronged move hits both supply chains and market access simultaneously. MP Materials is a critical player in rare earth processing, making its inclusion particularly pointed. Teal Drones operates in the increasingly contested unmanned systems space.

The restrictions cover exports and government purchasing — two levers Beijing has been pulling with increasing frequency as US-China tech tensions grind on. With 56 total companies affected across the two lists, this is one of China's broader single-day targeting actions against American firms to date.
