Snap's AR Glasses Pack Up to Four Hours of Battery Life
Snap CEO Evan Spiegel took the stage at AWE to talk Specs, the company's augmented reality glasses.
Snap's cofounder and CEO Evan Spiegel delivered the keynote at AWE, the augmented reality industry's marquee annual conference. The spotlight: Snap's AR glasses, called Specs.
The glasses offer a battery life of up to four hours per charge, according to a detailed look at the hardware by Fast Company's Harry McCracken, who also sat down with Spiegel for an interview about the product.
Specs represent Snap's continued push into AR hardware — a space the company has been investing in heavily while most of its revenue still flows through Snapchat. The AWE keynote signals that Snap wants to be taken seriously as an AR platform player, not just a social media app.
Four hours of juice per charge isn't going to win any endurance awards, but it's a concrete spec for a product category still finding its footing.
