Alibaba just rolled out Qwen3.7-Plus, a multimodal proprietary AI model that undercuts its own lineup on price. The model runs $2 per million tokens — a 60% discount compared to Qwen3.7-Max, which ironically only handles text.
The new model packs a 1-million-token context window, meaning it can chew through enormous documents, codebases, or conversations in a single pass. It also processes multiple modalities, not just text.
There's a catch, though. Like its predecessor, Qwen3.7-Plus ships under a closed commercial license. You can only access it through Alibaba's proprietary API — no downloading weights, no self-hosting, no tinkering under the hood.
It's a clear play to capture API-driven enterprise demand. Cheaper, more capable, but firmly locked inside Alibaba's ecosystem. Open source enthusiasts will have to look elsewhere.
