Meta Shifts 7,000 Workers to AI Units Ahead of Mass Layoffs

Meta is making a massive internal bet on artificial intelligence. According to an internal memo obtained by the New York Times, the company is reassigning 7,000 employees into four newly created units dedicated to building AI tools.

The timing is brutal. The restructuring comes just two days before Meta plans to lay off approximately 10% of its workforce — roughly 8,000 people.
