Sutskever Says His OpenAI Stake Is Worth $7B
Former OpenAI chief scientist testified in the Musk v. Altman trial about his massive stake and pre-ouster concerns.
Ilya Sutskever just put a number on his OpenAI holdings — and it's a big one. The co-founder and former chief scientist testified that his stake in the ChatGPT maker is worth roughly $7 billion.
The testimony came during the ongoing Musk v. Altman legal battle. Sutskever revealed he had concerns about CEO Sam Altman for a full year before Altman's dramatic (and short-lived) ouster from the company.
That brief firing — and Altman's swift reinstatement — was one of the most chaotic episodes in recent tech history. Sutskever was among the board members who initially pushed Altman out, only to later express regret.
The $7 billion figure underscores just how valuable OpenAI equity has become. It also highlights the enormous personal stakes involved as former allies hash out their differences in court.
