Google Translate Turns 20, Gets AI Pronunciation Coach
Google marks two decades of Translate by launching an AI tool that listens to your speech and fixes your pronunciation in real time.
Google Translate just hit its 20th birthday, and the company is celebrating with more than cake. A brand-new AI-powered pronunciation practice tool is rolling out to Android users in the US and India.
The feature works by analyzing your spoken words in real time, then serving up corrections to help you actually sound like you know what you're saying. Think of it as a language tutor that never gets impatient.
The timing makes sense. Google Translate now handles over one billion queries every single month — a staggering number that underscores just how deeply embedded the service is in daily life worldwide.
For now, the pronunciation tool is Android-only and limited to two markets. No word yet on when iOS users or additional countries might get access. But for a 20-year-old product, Translate clearly isn't slowing down.
