Xbox Game Pass Gets a Price Cut, Loses New Call of Duty
Microsoft slashes Game Pass prices across tiers, but new Call of Duty titles won't be included in Ultimate or PC plans.
Microsoft is cutting Game Pass prices after Xbox CEO Asha Sharma acknowledged last week that the service had gotten too expensive for players.
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate drops from $29.99 to $22.99 per month — a $7 reduction. PC Game Pass falls from $16.49 to $13.99. Meaningful cuts on both fronts.
There's a catch, though. Neither the Ultimate nor PC Game Pass tier will get new Call of Duty games. That's a significant tradeoff for subscribers who relied on Game Pass as their gateway to one of gaming's biggest franchises.
The move signals Microsoft is rethinking its Game Pass value proposition. Cheaper entry point, but a narrower content offering on the blockbuster end. Whether that math works out for subscribers remains to be seen.
