Amazon Cuts Kindle Store Access for Devices From 2012 and Earlier

Amazon is pulling the plug on Kindle Store access for its oldest e-readers and tablets. Starting May 20, Kindle and Kindle Fire devices released in 2012 and earlier will no longer be able to browse or purchase from the Kindle Store.
The good news — if you can call it that — is that previously downloaded books will still be readable on those devices. So your digital library isn't vanishing overnight. It's just frozen in time.
This effectively turns aging Kindles into offline-only reading devices. No new purchases, no new downloads through the store. If you're still rocking a decade-plus-old Kindle, Amazon is making it clear: upgrade or make peace with your existing collection.
The cutoff impacts hardware that's well over a decade old at this point, but it's still a reminder that digital storefronts can disappear with a policy update.
