Anthropic Cuts Third-Party Tool Access From Claude Subscriptions
Claude subscriptions will stop covering third-party tool usage like OpenClaw starting April 4 at 12pm PT.
Anthropic is pulling the plug on free third-party tool access for Claude subscribers. Starting April 4 at 12pm PT, your Claude subscription will no longer cover usage on external tools like OpenClaw.
The move is about capacity management. Anthropic apparently needs to rein in how much compute third-party integrations are eating up under existing subscription plans.
Users aren't completely cut off, though. You can still access these tools using your Claude login — you'll just need to purchase extra usage bundles, which Anthropic says are now available at a discount. Alternatively, you can connect via a Claude API key and pay for what you use that way.
It's a clear signal that Anthropic is tightening the economics around its platform as demand scales. Free rides on third-party tools are officially over.
