Poolside Scrambles to Save Texas Data Center After Deals Collapse

AI startup Poolside is in rescue mode. The company has been holding talks with Google and other cloud providers to revive an ambitious 2-gigawatt data center project in Texas, according to sources cited by the Financial Times.

The scramble comes after two major deals fell apart. A partnership with CoreWeave collapsed, and a massive $2 billion funding round led by Nvidia also cratered. That's a brutal one-two punch for any startup, let alone one trying to build out serious infrastructure at scale.

A 2-gigawatt facility is no small ambition — that's enough power to rival some of the largest data center campuses on the planet. Poolside is now casting a wider net among cloud heavyweights to keep the project alive.

Whether Google or another provider bites remains to be seen. But Poolside clearly isn't ready to pull the plug on Texas just yet.
