Vultr Hunts $1B+ to Beef Up Its AI Cloud Infrastructure
Independent cloud provider Vultr wants over $1 billion in fresh capital to scale its AI computing muscle.
Vultr is going big. The veteran independent cloud provider is looking to raise more than $1 billion in new funding, with the cash earmarked for expanding its AI computing capacity.
The fundraise comes after Vultr pulled in $333 million in 2024 at a $3.5 billion valuation. Now it's tripling down — seeking roughly three times that amount to keep pace in the increasingly cutthroat AI infrastructure race.
Vultr has long positioned itself as a scrappy alternative to the hyperscaler giants. But competing for AI workloads is a different beast entirely. GPU clusters and high-performance compute don't come cheap, and the demand from AI companies for cloud capacity shows no signs of cooling off.
A billion-dollar raise would mark a significant escalation for a company that's built its reputation on being lean and independent. The AI gold rush changes the math for everyone.
