Spotify Beta Tests Tool to Shield Artists From AI Slop

Spotify is beta testing a feature called Artist Profile Protection that lets musicians review releases before they go live. The goal: prevent AI-generated tracks from being attributed to artists without their knowledge or consent.

The move comes as AI slop floods music streaming platforms at an alarming rate. Fake tracks mimicking real artists have become a growing headache across the industry, muddying catalogs and eroding trust.

The new tool gives artists a chance to catch unauthorized releases before they reach listeners. Rather than playing cleanup after the fact, the feature is designed as a preventative measure — artists can screen what gets associated with their name.

The feature is still in beta, so it's not widely available yet. But it signals Spotify is taking the AI attribution problem seriously enough to build dedicated tooling around it.
