Lucid Bots Raises $20M for Its Window-Cleaning Drones
Charlotte-based Lucid Bots closed a $20M Series B for its autonomous window-cleaning drone business.
Lucid Bots, the Charlotte-based startup that manufactures autonomous drones designed to clean windows, just pulled in $20 million in Series B funding. The round was co-led by Cubit and Idea Fund.
Founder and CEO Andrew Ashur has quipped that his company is basically the opposite of what the robotics industry is doing right now. While much of the sector chases humanoid robots and flashy AI demos, Lucid Bots is focused on a decidedly practical problem: getting windows clean without putting humans at risk.
The company builds robots that handle one of the more tedious and dangerous tasks in building maintenance. It's not glamorous, but it's the kind of real-world automation that actually ships and generates revenue.
The $20M raise signals investor appetite for robotics startups solving unglamorous but concrete problems.
