Nvidia Builds Open AI Coalition With Cursor, Mistral, and More
Nvidia launches the Nemotron Coalition to develop open AI models trained on its DGX Cloud infrastructure.
Nvidia is making a big play to lock in open-source AI loyalty. The GPU giant just launched the Nemotron Coalition — a new alliance dedicated to building open AI models, with Nvidia supplying the compute muscle via DGX Cloud.
The coalition's roster includes some notable names: Thinking Machines Lab, the red-hot coding assistant maker Cursor, and French AI powerhouse Mistral. Together, they'll collaborate on developing an open model trained entirely on Nvidia's cloud infrastructure.
The strategy is clear. By bankrolling compute for open-source development, Nvidia cements DGX Cloud as the go-to training platform while ensuring the open model ecosystem stays tightly coupled to its hardware stack.
It's a smart move — open models get the resources they need, and Nvidia gets deeper integration across the AI landscape. Everybody wins, especially Nvidia.
