Nvidia-Backed Nscale Eyes Major West Virginia Data Center Deal
UK cloud upstart Nscale is negotiating to acquire a big data center site in West Virginia, beating out Amazon and Meta.
Nscale, a UK-based cloud provider with serious Nvidia backing, is in talks to snap up a major data center site in West Virginia. The company isn't alone in its interest — Amazon and Meta have also been eyeing the property.
For a relative upstart, Nscale punches well above its weight. Its customer roster already includes OpenAI and Microsoft, two of the biggest names in AI. Nvidia's heavy investment gives it credibility and access that most young cloud players can only dream about.
The West Virginia deal would mark a significant expansion of Nscale's physical infrastructure footprint in the US. Landing the site over two of the world's largest tech companies would be a major statement about the growing demand for AI-focused cloud capacity — and the willingness of newer players to compete head-to-head with hyperscalers for prime real estate.
