OpenAI Bringing Sora Video Generation Into ChatGPT
OpenAI plans to integrate Sora's AI video tools into ChatGPT as it chases a 1 billion weekly active user target.
OpenAI is preparing to roll out its Sora video generation capabilities directly inside ChatGPT, according to sources familiar with the plans.
The move is strategic. OpenAI currently sits at 920 million weekly active users — impressive, but still 80 million short of the 1 billion target the company set for itself last year. Adding AI-generated video to the flagship product is clearly designed to close that gap.
Sora, which generates video from text prompts, has been one of OpenAI's splashiest demos. Embedding it into ChatGPT rather than keeping it as a standalone tool could dramatically increase adoption by putting it in front of the platform's massive existing user base.
No exact launch date has been disclosed. But "soon" in OpenAI's vocabulary typically means weeks, not months. The billion-user milestone is clearly within striking distance.
