YouTube Is Now the World's Biggest Media Company
Google's video giant overtook Disney in 2025 with an estimated $62B in revenue, per MoffettNathanson.
YouTube has officially dethroned Disney as the planet's largest media company. Financial research firm MoffettNathanson estimates the Google-owned video platform pulled in roughly $62 billion in revenue in 2025, edging past Disney's media business at $60.9 billion.
That's a staggering milestone for a platform that started as a scrappy video-sharing site two decades ago. YouTube now generates more money than the house that Mickey built — theme parks excluded, we're talking pure media revenue here.
The gap is slim — just over a billion dollars — but the symbolism is enormous. Legacy media's crown jewel has been surpassed by a platform powered largely by creator content and advertising dollars.
For Google parent Alphabet, YouTube continues to be a monster revenue engine that shows zero signs of slowing down.
