Thinking Machines Lab Locks Down Massive Nvidia Chip Deal
Mira Murati's AI startup secures a tens-of-billions-dollar Nvidia partnership for next-gen Vera Rubin GPUs.
Mira Murati's Thinking Machines Lab just inked one of the biggest chip supply agreements in AI history. The deal with Nvidia is worth tens of billions of dollars and spans multiple years.
The one-year-old startup plans to deploy over one gigawatt of Nvidia's next-generation Vera Rubin chips — a staggering amount of compute power. For context, that's data center capacity rivaling some of the largest deployments on the planet.
But the silicon isn't the only thing flowing from Nvidia. The GPU giant is also making a "significant" direct investment into Thinking Machines Lab, further tightening the relationship between chipmaker and customer.
It's a massive bet on both sides. Murati gets the hardware runway to build whatever she's building. Nvidia locks in a colossal buyer for its newest architecture.
