Google Caves, Lets Users Ditch AI Search in Photos

Google Photos now has a toggle to swap AI-powered Ask Photos back to classic search after user pushback.

Google Caves, Lets Users Ditch AI Search in Photos

Google blinked. After users revolted against the AI-heavy "Ask Photos" search experience, the company is now offering a toggle to switch back to the classic search interface in Google Photos.

The move is a rare concession from a company that's been cramming AI into virtually every product it ships. Users who preferred the straightforward keyword-based search over the conversational AI approach were vocal enough to force Google's hand.

The new toggle lets users choose between the original search experience and the newer Ask Photos feature, which uses AI to answer natural language queries about your photo library.

It's a small but telling retreat. Not everyone wants an AI assistant mediating their search for last summer's beach pics. Sometimes a search bar is just a search bar. Google, apparently, got the memo.
