Anthropic Sues Pentagon Over National Security Blacklist
AI company takes the DOD to court over supply chain risk designation, citing free speech and due process violations.
Anthropic is going to war — legally — with the Pentagon. The AI company filed a lawsuit Monday to block the Department of Defense from slapping it with a supply chain risk designation that would effectively land it on a national security blacklist.
The company argues the designation is flat-out unlawful. Anthropic says it violates both its free speech and due process rights, a bold constitutional challenge against one of the most powerful government agencies on the planet.
The move marks a serious escalation in tensions between Anthropic and the DOD. Getting tagged as a supply chain risk could effectively freeze the company out of government contracts and send a chilling signal to potential partners across the defense ecosystem.
Anthropic clearly isn't backing down. The courtroom is now the battlefield.
