Hyundai's Atlas Humanoid Robot Eyes Factory Floors by 2028
Hyundai is putting its Boston Dynamics billions to work with Atlas, a humanoid robot built for assembly line duty.
Hyundai is gearing up to deploy its Atlas humanoid robot for assembly tasks by 2028. The automaker-turned-robotics-giant has poured billions into robotics since snapping up Boston Dynamics back in 2021.
The connection between cars and robots isn't new for Hyundai. Executive Chair Euisun Chung made a splash at CES 2022 by sharing the stage with Spot, Boston Dynamics' famous robot dog. Now the company is pushing well beyond four-legged demos into full humanoid territory.
Atlas is being designed specifically for factory assembly work — the kind of repetitive, physically demanding tasks that automakers know intimately. The 2028 timeline puts Hyundai in a growing race alongside Tesla, Figure, and others betting big on humanoid robots as the next industrial workforce.
Billions invested. A clear deployment target. Hyundai isn't just experimenting anymore.
