Pentagon Blacklists Anthropic as Supply Chain Risk

The Department of Defense just dropped the hammer on Anthropic. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has directed the Pentagon to classify the AI company as a supply chain risk, effectively cutting it off from the entire military contracting ecosystem.
The designation means defense contractors are now barred from doing business with Anthropic. Hegseth didn't mince words, accusing the company of "arrogance and betrayal" and calling the situation a textbook example of how not to work with the U.S. government.
The core demand from the Pentagon is clear: full, unrestricted access to AI capabilities. Anthropic apparently didn't meet that bar.
This is a massive blow for a company that had been positioning itself as a responsible AI partner for government use. Getting blacklisted by the DOD doesn't just close one door — it slams shut an entire corridor of lucrative defense contracts.
