Google Drops Nano Banana 2 Image Model Across Its Products
Google's latest image generation model, Gemini 3.1 Flash Image, brings sharper text rendering and world knowledge at speed.
Google just shipped Nano Banana 2 — internally known as Gemini 3.1 Flash Image — and it's rolling out across the company's product lineup.
The model brings a notable list of upgrades: advanced world knowledge, precision text rendering, translation capabilities, subject consistency, and what Google calls "production-ready specs." All of it runs at Flash speed, meaning generation times stay snappy despite the beefier capabilities.
Text rendering has been a persistent weak spot for image generation models. Getting words to look correct — especially across languages — has tripped up nearly every competitor. Google is positioning Nano Banana 2 as a direct answer to that problem.
The cross-product rollout signals Google is confident enough to make this the default image generation backbone. No limited beta. No waitlist. Just a full deployment across the ecosystem.
