The timing matters. Major tech companies have been aggressively pushing AI adoption in India, often through free tiers and promotional access. That growth-at-all-costs phase may be ending. As companies start pulling back free offerings, the real test begins: whether India's enormous user base will convert into paying customers.
For now, India is GenAI's biggest fan — just not its biggest spender.
