Google Spinoff Aalyria Hits Unicorn Status With $100M Raise
Satellite networking startup Aalyria, a Starlink rival born from Google, just crossed the $1.3B valuation mark.
Aalyria just joined the unicorn club. The satellite communications startup pulled in $100 million in fresh funding, pushing its valuation to $1.3 billion.
The company spun out of Google back in 2022, built around a project focused on high-speed communications networks. Its core play: helping satellite constellations plug network gaps, particularly during disaster scenarios when traditional infrastructure goes dark.
That puts Aalyria squarely in competition with SpaceX's Starlink — though with a different angle. Rather than launching its own mega-constellation, Aalyria focuses on the orchestration layer, making existing satellite networks smarter and more responsive.
The $100M raise signals serious investor confidence in the company's approach to connectivity resilience. In a world increasingly dependent on always-on networks, the ability to keep communications running when everything else fails is worth a lot of money.
