Google Killing Gmailify and POP Access in Gmail

Gmail users who pull in outside email accounts via Gmailify or POP will need to find alternatives starting in 2026.

Google Killing Gmailify and POP Access in Gmail

Google is pulling the plug on two longtime Gmail features: Gmailify and POP access. If you've been funneling third-party email accounts into your Gmail inbox, your days are numbered.

The rollback hits new users first. Starting Q1 2026, fresh Gmail accounts won't have access to either feature. Existing users get a longer runway — both Gmailify and POP support will stick around until later in 2026, though Google hasn't nailed down an exact cutoff date.

Gmailify let users link non-Google email accounts directly into the Gmail interface. POP access allowed pulling messages from external servers. Both features made Gmail a one-stop inbox for people juggling multiple accounts.

That convenience is going away. Users who rely on either feature should start planning their migration now. Google giveth, and — predictably — Google taketh away.
