OpenAI Taps Tata for Massive India Data Center Push

OpenAI locks in 100MW of AI data center capacity in India through Tata's TCS, with plans to scale tenfold.

OpenAI Taps Tata for Massive India Data Center Push

OpenAI just became the first data center customer for Tata Consultancy Services. The deal kicks off with 100 megawatts of AI-ready capacity in India — and the ambitions don't stop there. The plan calls for scaling all the way to 1 gigawatt.

It's a two-way street. Tata Group is rolling out ChatGPT Enterprise across its operations, starting with TCS itself. So OpenAI gets infrastructure, and Tata gets the AI tools.

The partnership marks a significant footprint expansion for OpenAI into India, one of the world's fastest-growing tech markets. For TCS, landing OpenAI as its debut data center client is a major credibility stamp as it enters the hyperscale infrastructure game.

One hundred megawatts is substantial. One gigawatt is a statement.
