Mistral Makes First Acquisition, Snaps Up Infrastructure Startup Koyeb

Mistral AI just made its first-ever acquisition, picking up fellow Paris-based startup Koyeb. The deal marks a significant move for the OpenAI rival, currently valued at $13.8 billion.

Koyeb specializes in simplifying AI application deployment at scale and managing AI infrastructure — exactly the kind of plumbing Mistral needs as it pushes deeper into the enterprise AI stack. The startup had raised $8.6 million in total funding before the acquisition.

For Mistral, this isn't just about buying tech. It's about owning the deployment layer. Building great models is one thing. Getting them running reliably at scale for customers is another problem entirely. Koyeb solves that.

The acquisition signals Mistral is shifting from pure model development into a more vertically integrated play, controlling more of the pipeline from training to production deployment.
