X Cracks $1B in Subscription Revenue

X just crossed a major milestone. The platform is now pulling in $1 billion in annualized recurring revenue from subscriptions alone.

Head of product Nikita Bier dropped the figure during an xAI all-hands meeting on Tuesday. The revenue comes from X's subscription tiers, which range from $3 to $40 per month.

What we didn't get: any numbers on advertising revenue or broader xAI financials. That's a notable omission given how much the ad business has historically driven X's bottom line.

Still, hitting the billion-dollar ARR mark on subscriptions is significant. It suggests a meaningful chunk of users are willing to pay for premium features rather than just scrolling for free.

The big question remains whether subscription growth can offset whatever's happening on the ad side.
