Kraken Boots CFO Just Months Before IPO
Crypto exchange shuffles top finance exec into advisory role as public listing looms.
Kraken just showed its CFO the door. The crypto exchange has removed Stephanie Lemmerman from her chief financial officer position, shifting her to a vague "strategic advisory role" instead.
The timing is brutal. Kraken has been eyeing a public market debut, and axing your finance chief right before an IPO raises obvious questions.
Lemmerman barely had time to warm her seat. She joined Kraken in November 2024 after leaving Dapper Labs, the company behind NBA Top Shot and Flow blockchain. That's roughly six months on the job before getting sidelined.
Kraken hasn't publicly commented on why the change happened. The exchange has been positioning itself as one of the more compliance-friendly crypto players, which makes executive musical chairs at this stage particularly awkward.
IPO hopefuls usually want stability in the C-suite. Kraken apparently had other ideas.
