Swarm Aero Raises $35M to Build Missile-Carrying Drone Swarms
California defense startup Swarm Aero lands Series A to scale its large swarming drones designed for missiles and cargo.
Swarm Aero just locked down $35 million in Series A funding to keep building what sounds like something out of a sci-fi movie: large autonomous drones that fly in swarms and carry missiles or cargo.
The California-based startup previously pulled in a $22 million seed round in 2023, bringing its total known funding to $57 million. That's serious cash for a company still in its early stages.
The fresh capital comes with aggressive growth plans. Swarm Aero intends to more than double its workforce by year's end, signaling a rapid push from development toward production-readiness.
The defense drone space is heating up fast, with militaries worldwide scrambling for autonomous swarm capabilities. Swarm Aero is betting big that coordinated drone fleets — not solo aircraft — are the future of both combat and logistics operations.
